The pro Olympic folks are probably overly optimistic, and the anti Olympic voices overly concerned. Olympic kayaking has likely contributed to that sport&amp;#39;s popularity, and increased the number of gate courses on waterways, but I can still easily find places to kayak or canoe in a different way. I also enjoy watching people run our local course at the mouth of Boulder Canyon on spring evenings- they often demonstrate technique that could help me if I&amp;#39;m inspired to learn. As I&amp;#39;ve stated in the comment section for one of your previous posts, Climbing can be experienced in a number of different ways, from an exercise/workout at a gym to a full scale adventure/epic in a remote place, from a social scene to a solitary spiritual practice (for some of us it&amp;#39;s all of those things). We each get to choose what it is for ourselves- our sport is somewhat unique in this way.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4790818505250918302/4154285415656949145/comments/default/8999442819714810206'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4790818505250918302/4154285415656949145/comments/default/8999442819714810206'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.mountainsandwater.com/2011/12/climbing-and-olympics-will-climbing.html?showComment=1324594362860#c8999442819714810206' title=''/><author><name>Peter Stokes</name><uri>http://sqrbass.blogspot.com/</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img1.blogblog.com/img/blank.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.mountainsandwater.com/2011/12/climbing-and-olympics-will-climbing.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4790818505250918302.post-4154285415656949145' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4790818505250918302/posts/default/4154285415656949145' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-518518554'/></entry></feed>
