For anyone interested, Pat Ament himself was not impressed at all with what I wrote, apparently viewing it as a hatchet job. Efforts to reassure him that this was definitely not the case were to no avail. I will be writing on this soon.

Heroes, heroes, bla bla bla. I remember when we were all kids, that word didn't mean what it means today. It meant...embodiment of aspiration. John Gill is one of my heroes. All those forerunners, pioneers, fun-loving-dudes surfing beneath a sea of big-walls and self-slung nuts...those guys are really my heroes. Period. I loved the blog, Peter.
