It must have downloaded the need to devour all things historical pertaining to rock (mountaineering books might as well be valerian root).<br /><br />Royal&#39;s book was one of the easiest reads I&#39;ve ever had in the genre, not to mention one of the most honest and touching. I can&#39;t imagine how any climber wouldn&#39;t feel like they weren&#39;t wrapping themselves in a very warm, very comfortable, and very used blanket by reading this autobiography...<br /><br />Before I&#39;d read the book I pondered the attitude one would assume by penning seven volumes of autobiography. Narcissism flooded my expectations. Now, I&#39;m reading the book for a second time. I hope he can&#39;t finish his life story in ten volumes...<br /><br />A week ago, I was honored enough to ask Royal some questions with Mike Brooks (the DUDE, and the colorado friggin&#39; treasure responsible for so many great interviews) on the radio, and not only does he come across as a genuine MAN with a lifetime of precious luggage loaded into his soul, but also a GENTLEMAN devoid of self-absorption. Honestly, chiseled in life as a bit of a skeptic, I was astounded. He&#39;s the real deal...now and then. The interview will be online shortly.<br /><br />Thanks for the review.
